■ 落合楼村上のなり立ち(History of Ochiairou Murakami)　　
明治７年に足立三敏が、本谷川と猫越川（ねっこがわ）が合流して狩野川の起点となる
当地に旅館業を営み「眠雲樓」と称したのが眠雲閣落合楼の創始でございます。
落合楼は伊豆半島を流れる狩野川の起点、本谷川と猫越川の’落ち合う’場所に建っており、
明治１４年に、逗留中の山岡鉄舟が宿の庭から川の落ち合う様子を眺め、
「落合楼」と称したのがこの名の由来となっております。
建物のうち玄関を含む本館の一部と眠雲亭は、昭和８年から１２年にかけて建てられました。
良質の建築材を入手できた昭和初期の時代性を感じさせるそれらの建築物は、
国指定登録有形文化財に指定されております。

■ History of Ochiairou Murakami(落合楼村上のなり立ち)　　
'Min-un-rou Ochiairou' was established in 1874, Mitsutoshi Adachi built a Ryokan and named it 'Min-un-rou'. Ochiairou is located at starting point of Kano river, junction of Hontani river and Nekko river. In 1881, a great Samurai, Tessyuu Yamaoka created here the name 'Ochiairou (meaning meeting point)' while viewing the scenery of the meeting rivers from its garden in the end of Edo period. Although the buildings in those days no longer exist, some of the present buildings (such as Min-un tei and the main building including the entrance) were built from 1933 to 1937 and they have atmosphere in the early Showa period and designated as National Cultural Properties. In November 2002, it was opened again as 'Ochiairou Murakami' by Murakami who took over the management.

■ 文化財について(Cultural properties)　　
落合楼村上の建築物は文化庁の登録有形文化財に指定されております。
昭和８年、落合楼では玄関を始め本館が建築されました。
その後昭和１２年までに、眠雲亭や紫檀宴会場およびそれらを繋ぐ配膳室階段棟などが
順次建築され、旅館の中枢部分である本館の基本が整いました。
建築に携ったのは、青木清平という棟梁でございます。
使われている木材は伊豆生まれ、伊豆育ちの優良木材。
良質の建築材料が入手できた昭和初期の時代性を感じさせる
洗練された建築物でございます。
平成１２年には文化庁の登録有形文化財に指定され、
平成１４年に落合楼村上としてリニューアルいたしました。
国登録有形文化財とは、築５０年を経過し文化庁によって定められた、
時代や建造物の特徴などから造形の模範となる将来へ残すべき美しい建造物です。
この機会に、昭和初期の風を感じる歴史的風景を求めて館内を散策してみてはいかがですか。

■ Cultural properties(文化財について)　　
Our buildings are designated as national cultural properties by Agency of Cultural. In 1933, construction of the main building including the entrance was started. After that, Min-un-tei, Shitan banquet room and the staircase connecting between those were built　one after another and organized the basis of the main building by 1945. The master carpenter　was Kiyohira Aoki and he used the good quality building material woods from Izu peninsula. It is the fine architecture which represents the architectural style in the early Showa period. Our architecture was nominated as the national cultural properties in 2000 and re-opened as Ochiairou Murakami in 2002. National cultural property means beautiful and symbolic architecture which have been over 50 years and we should leave to the future.

■ ゆかりの文人達(Great authors)　　
伊豆の湯ヶ島は川端康成の「伊豆の踊子」や井上靖の「しろばんば」の舞台と
して有名ですが、落合楼にも山奥の静寂を求めて多くの文人達が訪れました。
明治４２年には、若き日の島崎藤村、田山花袋、蒲原有明、武林夢想庵の4人が滞在し、
この時の思い出を田山花袋は「夕方、箱ランプが１つついているばかりの暗い湯殿で、
狩野川にかかる 吊り橋を渡って集まってくる村の男や女たちと混浴するのが珍しかった。」
と記しております。
明治１４年には落合楼の名付け親である山岡鉄舟が滞在し、
明治４４年には木下杢太郎が 浴室の窓から落日を眺め、「浴泉歌」を唄いました。
現在の「落合楼村上」の名で営んでおります建物が建てられた昭和10年には、
北原白秋が 歌作に専念してたという記録があり、
正月の４日〜２０日まで逗留し、短歌「渓流唱」の３７首を 詠んだそうです。
ラウンジ入口には逗留中に白秋が即興で書いた「雀百まで」の落首が掲げられております。

■ Great authors(ゆかりの文人達)　　
Yugashima is famous as scenes in novels such as 'Izu no Odoriko' by Yasunari Kawabata and 'Shirobanba' by Yasushi Inoue, and also many authors stayed at Ochiairou. Great authors, Touson Shimazaki, Katai Tayama, Ariake Kanbara and Musouan Chikurin stayed at Ochiairou in 1909. Then Katai Tayama wrote her pleasurable memory at Ochiairou in her novel. It says 'In the evening, it was an unusual experience to bathe together in the dim bath with a box lamp across the suspension bridge on Kano river.' Tessyuu Yamaoka who named Ochiairou stayed in 1881. Also Mokutarou Kinoshita stayed and composed 'Yokusen-ka (A poem about bath)' in　1911. When present buildings were being built in 1935, Hakusyuu Kitahara stayed from 4th to 20th of January to concentrate on writing and he composed the 37 poems in 'Kei-Ryuu Shou (Poems of mountain stream)' during his stay. You can see a his poem from 'Suzume Hyaku Made (Spadger until 100)' at the entrance of the lounge 'Swan'.
